A Bride’s Song, A Bridegroom’s Love
A Bride’s Song, A Bridegroom’s Love

She is a petite blond with an incredible singing voice. I’ve known her for about six years and have been in a life-group at church with her and her husband almost that whole time.
They are a wonderful, and oftentimes hilarious, couple.
Yesterday at church she led out on one of the songs in the worship set. As a friend, I was blessed to see her step up to the plate and knock it out of the park! She doesn’t lead out on songs often so it was fun to see her “soar” with the music.
Once I got passed the “Look at my cool friend!” thought … I simply knew the Lord was inhabiting our praise. There was a moment where it wasn’t about her ability to lead, or incredible talent to sing, or being brave up on the stage; I could almost feel the moment right at the beginning of the song where her voice connected with Him.
The knowledge of His presence was clear and undeniable. It was as if He was saying, “pay attention.”
That’s when I noticed out of the corner of my eye her husband’s hand go up in praise, then down to wipe at his eyes, then back up … then wipe his eyes… then the other hand went up while the other was still trying to deal with the tears. He sniffled a couple of times, his faced flushed …
He was genuinely choked up and overflowing with emotion as he worshipped.
His focus was not only worshipping God, but on watching his wife worship our Heavenly Father. Her song touched her husband’s heart and he couldn’t help but pour out his love for God, and her, in that moment.
That’s when I believe the Lord said, “His (my friend’s) response accurately reflects My Heart toward my Bride when she sings.”
That’s when this earthly symbol of a spiritual reality became personal. I was deeply blessed, while adding my voice to the chorus of praise, thinking about Jesus being so moved by our worship that He couldn’t hold back the tears as His heart swells with love for us. Can you imagine God’s eyes tearing up, His pulse accelerating from pure joy, *divine* Joy, as a natural response of watching the one He loves the most sing out her love to Him?
I can.
