Is Christ’s work on my behalf finished or not? Hosea 14: 1-7
What did Jesus “finish”? Everything the Father sent Him to accomplish (John 17:4)
1. He came to reveal the Father – love! (John 14:24)
2. He came to fulfill the Father’s purpose, through perfect obedience (Heb. 10:7-10; John 4:34; 6:38)
3. He came to seek and save that which was lost (Matt. 18:11-12; Luke 19:10; John 3:16-19; 1 Tim. 1:15)
4. He came to destroy the works of the evil one (1 John 3:8)
5. He came to give life full and abundant (John 10:10)
6. He came to preach and reveal the Kingdom of God (Mark 1:38; Luke 4:18-19; Isaiah 61:1)…

Old Car – New Car
Walking by the Spirit vs. the Flesh
Pastor Javin van Kaam
May 5, 2013
New American Standard Version Used
Romans 8 | Galatians 5:13-18 | John 15:5 | 1 John 2:6-10
As a believer you can only walk by the Spirit
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16
The law of Christ is to love
14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:14
The desire of the flesh is to reject love and to exalt itself
17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
Galatians 5:17

“God is the most gracious entity in existence, and He loves me as much as He loves His only begotten Son.” (Pure Grace Page 68)
The truth is that I (we) am as much a son of God as is Jesus! Amazing! Jesus is God’s only “begotten” son but we are all adopted sons and daughters. Believers are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Since we are sons and daughters, we are heirs! Isn’t it amazing to think of ourselves in such a way? I could not be more loved by my Heavenly Father or more secure. “As He is, so also are we in this world!” (1 John 4:17).

Where are the signs and wonders of old?
When Jesus sent out his disciples to preach, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons”, they did just that. In fact, when they returned from their evangelistic ventures, they were amazed at what they saw God do.
Some argue today that the era of signs and wonders have passed with the Apostles. Yet, throughout church history, records and writings indicate the “working of miracles” continued…

What does it mean when we refer to doing the “work of God”? Well, unfortunately it has been understood and manipulated by many to be understood as any activity performed, or a responsibility assumed that consumes valuable time away from what we would rather be doing. Even more dastardly, the “work of God” is often considered the duty of a Christian who must perform his or her religious responsibilities until Jesus comes again…or else. Or else what?
Religion has a way of taking the joy out of being a Christian doesn’t it?
The work of God in reality is the most incredible, fulfilling, exciting, and challenging experience anyone could ever be part of. But what is it about “the work of God” that makes us think otherwise? Maybe it’s the word “work”! Maybe it’s a preconceived idea that pops into our minds based upon previous church experience.
All too often religious leaders utilize manipulative tactics to recruit volunteers in order to get a program or project up and off the ground. And yes, you guessed it – in order to get you to volunteer you were recruited to do “the work of the Lord”. Each of us has been religiously abused to some degree in this way…
