Quote of the Week

“The fear that pervades the minds of many is that if we preach grace, people will “presume” upon God’s grace and use it as an occasion to sin. That opinion comes from a “sin management” mentality and fails to trust the process God designed to conform us to the image of Jesus”(Page 44 Pure Grace).

Jesus transforms us from the inside out not the outside in! Merely modifying our behavior does not work the righteousness of Christ in us. Our singular hope of “acting like Jesus” is to allow the truth that we are already in His image to transform our minds, our motives, and ultimately our actions. We become who we already are made to be by this process. If I only attempt to manage my sin it quickly becomes unmanageable! Truth responded to and received transforms my life. Perhaps even more simply said, the key to overcoming sinful behavior isn’t found by focusing on right behavior, but on right believing. Start every day confessing that you are the “righteousness of God in Christ”.
