Sermon Notes for “The Gospel of the Kingdom” by Pastor Bill Snell
Matthew 4:23 (NASB) - Ministry in Galilee - 23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
Matthew 24:14 (NASB) 14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Mark 1:15 (NASB) 15 and saying, “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
1. The Kingdom Prophesied
Daniel 2:44 (NASB) The Divine Kingdom – 44 In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.
Daniel 7:27 (NASB) 27 Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.’
Psalm 145:13 (NASB) 13 Your kingdom is [a]an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
Mark 1:15 (NASB) 15 and saying, “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
2. The Kingdom Identified
Matthew 16:19 (NASB) 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”
Luke 12:32 (NASB) 32 Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
3. The Kingdom Personified
Matthew 18:3-4 (NASB) 3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
4. The Kingdom in Operation
Romans 8:32 (NASB) 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Matthew 5:1-12

1 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
5. Demonstration of the Kingdom
Isaiah 35:5-6 (NASB)
5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
6 Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the wilderness
And streams in the Arabah.
Luke 7:20-22 (NASB) 20 When the men came to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, ‘Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?’” 21 At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He gave sight to many who were blind. 22 And He answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Luke 9:1-2 (NASB) – Ministry of the Twelve – 1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. 2 And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing.
Matthew 12:28 (NASB) 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Psalm 89:8-9 (NASB)
8 O Lord God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty [a]Lord?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
9 You rule the swelling of the sea;
When its waves rise, You still them.
