Snuggling under a blanket is probably the last thing our Florida minds go to when we think of comfort. Especially now that it’s getting warmer. However, blankets are what we’re making as our first ever service event. Why blankets, you may ask? Well, because these blankets are going to be donated to 2 very worthy organizations: Project Linus and Ronald McDonald House. These organizations distribute the blankets locally to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere a child might be in need of a sense of security and love.
Some of these children are brand new to this world and fighting to stay alive, others are dealing with cancer or the loss of a loved one. To them the blanket represents the warmth of a hug in a sterile hospital. It means that all hope is not lost to the child reeling from loss. It’s a tangible thing the can be wrapped in.
Join us as we work together to create a product representing the love we have for the people in our community. No prior skill is needed to make these simple, no sew, fleece blankets! Young girls ages 8+ are welcomed! You have the option of purchasing your own material (1 ½ yards) or having us purchase it for you for $10 (or $11 if purchasing online). We’ll have cute options, we promise!
After we’re done, we’ll head out to a local restaurant for some yummy brunch. This part is optional, but it would be so fun to have you there!
