PASSION CAMP RECAP
by Gabby Niquette
Camp was incredible, life changing and more than we could have imagined—and that is still such an understatement. Our God is a God of immeasurably more, and that is exactly what we experienced in Daytona Beach. Our group was 50 strong, and given that the group was predominately middle school students, it seemed daunting, and all of the leaders were prepared to handle the typical camp shenanigans.
God wasted no time to start moving and revealing all of who He is to our students, and our group, especially the middle schoolers, were pressed in, alert, and so hungry for what God had to say. Before leaving for Daytona, everyone wrote out questions they wanted God to answer, and it was evident that our students were encouraged and confident that God was big enough to answer every single one of them. I, personally, was so encouraged by their faith and their wisdom that was well beyond their years.
I AM NOT DEAD. IN CHRIST, I AM ALIVE.
I AM NOT PERFECT. BUT IN CHRIST, I AM HOLY.
I AM NOT A VICTIM. IN CHRIST, I AM A VICTOR.
I AM NOT WORTHLESS. IN CHRIST, I AM CHOSEN.
These were the main points that our students processed with their leaders through the week. What a massive difference it makes when we stop hounding them about behavior, and start sharing with them about identity in Christ. When we understand who He is and who we are in Him, we can stand confidently in the truth. WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD. It changes everything. This reality shifts our perspective and allows us to boldly run to the throne of grace without any fear or hesitation.
Our students know this truth well, and their lives are the evidence. With the pure Gospel of Grace as their foundation, they are unstoppable.
Everyone has a story, and it honestly shocked me to hear what our students are walking though. So many of them are facing obstacles that from an earthly perspective seem massive and impossible to overcome, but our students believe for more. They know who they are in Christ and are choosing to be victors. They understand that they are seated with the Father and that no one can take that from them. They celebrate the fact that they have been made holy and blameless by a God who loved them before the world even began. They can’t lose.
Our students are different because they know who they have been created to be.
This week was powerful. Our God is good. And the best it yet to come!
